- Description
- The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Food Safety and Inspection = Service (FSIS) is seeking a source to provide training for 35 = individuals September 1 ? 30, 2001 or October 1 ? 31, 2001. FSIS is = planning to establish and introduce a new professional position titled = Consumer Safety Officer (CSO). The CSO position requires 30 hours of = science courses. The CSO?s will support inplant inspection personnel = in verifying HACCP system adequacy; facilitate industry innovation; = outbreak prevention and containment; apply risk analysis; improve = compliance through effective communication with industry; and address = unique problems that require a comprehensive, interdisciplinary = approach. FSIS envisions that the CSO will require training that = addresses scientific components, FSIS regulatory components and FSIS = administrative enforcement strategies. The Agency is seeking to work = cooperatively with a contractor in the development and delivery of the = overall training course. Proposals will be due on or about July 3, = 2001. The exact proposal due date will be specified in the = solicitation. The solicitation will be issued electronically and will = be available at the following website = (http://www.fsis.usda.gov/OM/rfp.htm) 7 business days after the = publication date of this synopsis. Offerors are responsible for = routinely checking this website for any possible solicitation = amendments that may be issued. It is anticipated that a single award = commercial item contract will be issued to the contractor who provides = the best value for the government.
