Description

> The purpose of this special announcement is to obtain expressions of interest from the small business community and to roughly gauge the capability of those interested small business firms as viable contenders to furnish cesium beam replacement tubes. The following describes the required items: Item 0001 shall have accuracy of +/- 0.00000000001, reproducibility of +/- 0.000000000005, settability (Frequency) of +/- 0.0000000000007, and long-term stability of +/- 0.000000000005. Item 0002 shall have accuracy of +/- 0.000000000007, reproducibility of +/- 0.000000000003, settability (Frequency) of +/- 0.0000000000001, and long-term stability of +/- 0.000000000003. Item 0003 shall have accuracy of +/- 0.00000000003, reproducibility of +/-0.00000000001, settability (Frequency) of +/-0.000000000002, and long-term stability of +/-0.00000000001. Items 0001 through 0003 shall be suitable for use in existing government-owned cesium beam frequency standards. The total estimated quantity is 268 each over a five-year period. The applicable North American Industry Classification (NAIC) code is 334511, and the size standard is 750 employees. THIS SYNOPSIS IS FOR INFORMATION AND PLANNING PURPOSES AND IS NOT TO BE CONSTRUED AS A COMMITMENT BY THE GOVERNMENT. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION ANNOUNCEMENT FOR PROPOSALS, AND NO CONTRACT WILL BE AWARDED FROM THIS ANNOUNCEMENT. NO REIMBURSEMENT WILL BE MADE FOR ANY COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH PROVIDING INFORMATION REQUESTS. RESPONDENTS WILL NOT BE NOTIFIED OF THE RESULTS OF THE EVALUATION. RESPONDENTS DEEMED FULLY QUALIFIED WILL BE CONSIDERED IN ANY RESULTING SOLICITATION FOR THE REQUIREMENT. CLOSING DATE FOR THE RESPONSES IS 18 JUNE 2001. Responses shall be furnished by email to howardc@spawar.navy.mil, or by fax to (843)218-5947. Responses must include evidence of prior experience manufacturing cesium beam tubes of similar type and complexity as the requested items. Interested sources should indicate whether they are large, small, small-disadvantaged, women-owned or veteran-owned small businesses. The Government anticipates issuing a pre-solicitation notice in the CBD on 19 Jun 2001, and written proposals will be due by 5 Jul 2001.
