Description

The U.S. Department of Commerce, Central Administrative Support = Center (CASC), NOAA intends to award a contract for one hundred (100) = radiation hazard meters and one (1) each calibration data for the = National Weather Service (NWS). The meters will be used in determining = if there are non-ionizing radiation leaks in the waveguide components = of the Weather Surveillance Radar -- 1988 Doppler (WSR-88D) Radar, Radar = Data Acquisition (RDA) shelter. The contractor shall furnish the = necessary personnel, material , equipment, services and facilities = (except as otherwise specified) to provide the specified equipment. The = radiation hazard meters are to be ordered in the form of two (2) first = article items, ninety-three (93) production items and five (5) spare = items. Separately, the contractor will deliver recommended calibration = intervals, recommended calibration process, calibration procedures, and = calibration standards at the same time as the first article. All = meters shall include carrying case, cables, probes and all items = required for operation including an operator's manual. The salient = product characteristics of the meters include but are not limited to: = Radiation Measurement: Electric field; frequency range -- 2700 to 3000 = MHZ minimum; directional pattern -- isotropic; measurement range -- 0.3 = microwatts per centimeter squared (uwatt/cm^2) to 200 (milliwatts/cm^2) = minimum; overload protection CW//Impulse -- 0.7 watts/cm^2/70 watts/cm^2 = (survival without damage); accuracy -- +/- 3dB over frequency range and = temperature range of 0 to +50 degrees C. Measurement Functions: Units = -- mw/cm^2 as a minimum; result display -- at least current result or = maximum result since reset. Portability/Service Environment: Durable = carrying case suitable for commercial shipping modes and field level = use containing all components required to perform measurements; = operator's manual; calibration interval of 12 months or greater; hand = held equipment of durability suitable for repeated filed level use; = battery operated.
