- Description
- The U.S. Geological Survey, Geologic Division has a requirement for a new stable isotope mass spectrometer with optional dual inlet system to be attached to the mass spectrometer, and optional high temperature carbon reduction and elemental analyzer with interface system for automated continuous flow modes. Studies require the ability to produce large amounts of high precision stable isotope data by He carrier continuous flow systems using isotope ratio mass spectrometry (IRMS) of the following: 1) C, N, and S isotope data on individual bulk samples of organic matter, 2) H and O isotope data on organic matter and hydrous minerals, 3) O isotope data on CO produced from organic matter, nitrate, phosphate, and sulfate, 4) oxygen isotope data of O2 produced by online laser fluorination of silicates and CO2 produced by laser ablation of carbonates, and 5) enriched N2 studies. The required equipment must operate on Windows/NT software to allow computer control of the mass spectrometer and all peripheral sample preparation devices with simultaneous capability to analyze, store and reduce data, and to access critical mass spectrometer control and readout components. A windows/NT platform is required to enable direct networking with the presently installed lab plan. In addition the EA analyzer-combustion and EA-pyrolysis systems including the open split interface hardware and the controlling isotope data processing software peripherals must also operate for gases H2, CO2, N2, O2, CO, and SO2 on the existing Delta Plus XL mass spectrometer. The elemental analyzer-combustion and elemental analyzer-prolysis systems, including the open split interface hardware and controlling and isotope data processing software shall be compatible with and capable of being installed on the existing Finnigan MAT 252 and Finnigan MAT Delta Plus XL mass spectrometer. Interested parties requesting solicitation shall fax request to Robert Valdez at (303) 236-2710. Request should include solicitation number, company name, complete street mailing address, telephone and fax number. Telephone request for the solicitation will not be accepted. Note 12.
