Description

66 -- The USDA, Agricultural Research Service in Albany, California has a requirement for one multifunctional image analysis system especially suitable for protein electrophoresis in the proteomics field and general array analysis for genomics. The imaging system must allow scanning of fluorescent and radioisotopic samples as large as 40x46cm with selectable scanning area suitable for large-size 2D protein electrophoresis gel analysis at resolutions as low as 25 microns. Scanning resolutions are user-selectable at 25, 50, 100 or 200-micron pixels. Multiple lasers for fluorescence imaging applications; a red, blue, and a green laser with ports for additional lasers to be connected internally and externally for future applications; must have multi-format detection to allow many sampling opportunities: radioisotope by imaging plate (IP) method, fluorescence detection by laser scanning, chemiluminescence by direct detecting, and digitizing function by epi-illumination with fluorescent screen. Requires five orders of magnitude; allows up to four filters to be placed on a single filter tray, interchangeable imaging plate stage and fluorescent stage with no cross-contamination from fluorescent samples when scanning imaging plates; one HP vectra desktop computer 512MB memory upgrade, 80GB hard drive, adeptec card, internal drive, 17" color monitor, and one internam RW CD. The government intends to make an award on a sole-source basis, though all responsible sources may submit a bid, proposal, or quotation which will be considered by the agency.
