- Description
- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to enter into a sole source contract with the University of Maryland/ Office of Research Administration and Advancement, under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253 (c) (1)-only one responsible source. The University of Maryland is uniquely qualified due to its involvement in the development of the instrumentation to measure silicon steps with the calibrated atomic force microscope and has collaborated extensively with NIST scientists on the ultra high vacuum system. The contractor shall assist in the design and implementation of a LEED/AUGER system for surface analysis of UHV prepared semiconductor surfaces. The Government anticipates the award of a Fixed- Price Purchase order on June 30, 2001. The period of performance will be from the effective date of the order through May 31, 2002. The proposed requirement is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under authority of FAR 13.106. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit quotations. However, the government will consider all quotations received by May 31. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the = discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A Request for Quotation (RFQ) Package is not available.
