- Description
- Description: This is an Industry Day Conference/invitation/announcement that will be hosted by the Integrated Maintenance Data System (IMDS) (HQ SSG/ILMB) System Program Office (SPO). This is an invitation only to participate in this conference and does not constitute either an invitation for bid or a request for proposal. The Industry Day Conference will be conducted on Friday, June 29, 2001, Building 892, SCSM Auditorium, 490 East Moore Drive, Maxwell Air Force Base, Gunter Annex, Montgomery AL 36114-000, 1:00 PM -- 4:30 PM (registration will take place from 12:30 to 1:00 PM). The HQ/SSG of the Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) is conducting market research to determine the existence of potential sources capable of providing design, development, test, implementation, fielding, and sustainment services to achieve a single integrated maintenance data system, which supports all of the Air Force's maintenance communities as well as associated reporting and decision making processes. Industry Day is an avenue for the SPO to communicate with industry about the IMDS requirements. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The goal of IMDS is to reengineer and modernize the existing legacy systems, with the end goal to create a single, integrated, maintenance management information system for the United States Air Force that is compliant with and resides on the Global Combat Support System -- Air Force (GCSS-AF) framework. The program objective is to select a legacy system as the foundation for development, modernize it, then incrementally replace or subsume the remaining (estimated 50+) legacy maintenance systems. The development path will start with retail, then incorporate wholesale, and finally deal with the remaining miscellaneous maintenance data systems. The final product, a single integrated maintenance data system, will enhance asset visibility, ensure data accuracy and timeliness, and reduce operating and support costs. The Government assumes the final product of IMDS may exceed 1 million source lines of code (SLOC) and support over 145,000 users. IMDS supports the base and depot level maintenance communities, as well as facilitates both MAJCOM and operational decision-making. Mission integrity, operational availability and integrity of current functions of all maintenance data systems and interfaces must be sustained throughout the migration to IMDS. The identification of operational effectiveness and efficiency improvements will be of interest to the Government as this effort matures. The Industry Day will consist of a series of briefings covering the following areas: Seamless Maintenance Overview; IMDS Background, Requirements, Modernization and GCSS-AF Integration Framework. The Industry Day Market Research for the IMDS program can be accessed on HERBB under "CDB Announcements" at http://herbb.hanscom.af.mil/info.asp?rfp=ebo, as well as the following URL: http://web1.ssg.gunter.af.mil/il/ilms. All briefings for the Industry Day will be available at the following URL: http://web1.ssg.gunter.af.mil/il/ilms no later than 26 June 2001. Questions and associated answers relating to the IMDS effort will be posted for general access at the following URL: http://web1.ssg.gunter.af.mil/il/ilms. Time will be allocated for questions and answers on IMDS requirements at this Industry Day, but there will be no discussion of the Acquisition Strategy. The Government reserves the right to use non-Government personnel (to include employees of Titan Corp. SenCom Division, Carnegie-Melon Software Engineering Institute (SEI) and Tecolote Research) to provide responses where their prior work for the SPO is relevant. All interested parties planning to attend are requested to notify Ms. Stephanie Seawright-Boswell (primary) at (334) 416-2233 or via e-mail at stephanie.seawright-boswell@gunter.af.mil or Mr. Douglas Demlow (alternate) at (334) 416-2509 or via e-mail at douglas.demlow@gunter.af.mil no later than 25 June 2001 with the name, e-mail address, work number, and company affiliation of the attendee(s). Attendance is limited to 3 personnel per organization. Participation in the Industry Day Conference is voluntary. The information presented herein will not obligate the Government in any manner. The Government will not reimburse the attendees for any cost associated with participation and is under no obligation to award any related contract associated with this event. Please note that as information is made available, it will be posted at the following URL: http://web1.ssg.gunter.af.mil/il/ilsm and interested parties are advised to check this site periodically for program status.
