Description

The Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Alexandria LA intends to open a Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Lafayette LA to provide primary care services to select veteran beneficiaries in the southwest portion of the VAMC Alexandria LA service area. VA will staff the clinic and will provide the majority of routine laboratory services. This procurement will provide ONE healthcare provider for STAT laboratory services, venipuncture on difficult to stick patients, diagnostic x-rays, doppler studies, CAT scans and pulmonary function studies for veteran referrals. Services shall be provided at one (1) contractor's established site which must be JCAHO accredited. Sources are limited to those located within the city limits of Lafayette LA. It is estimated that approximately 5,000 patients will be seen at the VA CBOC and approximatley 1,500 will need some kind of medical testing by the Contractor. It is anticipated that the Clinic will begin seeing patients July 16, 2001. There is a base year term and two optional twelve-month contract terms. The contract is subject to availability of funds after September 30. Local proximity of the contractor to the VA Community Based Clinic is essential to ensure continuity and convenience of patient care for an aging, rural population.
