- Description
- The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) intends to award a two-year sole source cooperative agreement to the University of Charleston, SC. NOAA is initiating a multi-year program to explore and map important features of the South Atlantic Bight (SAB) and the southeast continental margin (waters up to 1000 m deep) and to translate the scientific discoveries to the populace, especially through educational materials. NOAA intends to award a cooperative agreement to the University of Charleston to assist in development and implementation of the SAB Exploration Program and to develop and lead the education component. Under this cooperative agreement, the University of Charleston will 1) apply its expertise in continental shelf and slope processes to work closely with the Coastal Services Center in developing a scientific research agenda to gain a better understanding of the SAB region; 2) integrate existing and planned educational opportunities in the region with the research agenda to maximize the transfer of information from the scientific community to the populace; and 3) enhance institutional relationships in the region to bolster the scientific and educational opportunities for discovery in the SAB. Interested persons must identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement within five (5) days from the date of this announcement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed cooperative agreement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive action. Evidence must be provided of the ability to provide the required services. No cooperative agreement award will be made on the basis of proposals received in response to this notice since this synopsis cannot be considered a Request for Proposals. All potential offerors should contact Geno Olmi, NOAA Coastal Services Center, for additional information and/or to communicate concerns, if any, concerning this action.
