Description

This project is to reconstruct a section of the Doctor Park Trail No. 424 on the Grand Mesa, Umcompahgre & Gunnison National Forest, Gunnison county, Colorado. The proposed project is for the reconstruction of 15565 meters (9.67 miles) of trail. Work includes Clearing and Grubbing, Excavation, Tread Restoration, Drainage, Tread Stabilization, Reconstruction and Construction of Structures and Construction of Turnpike and Stream Ford and Gully Crossings. Equipment shall be limited to trail type equipment, capable of operating on a 610 mm (24") wide tread. Project is outside of designated wilderness area. Horses are recommended for the site visit, however, prospective bidders must provide their own transportation. Location of proposed site: from Gunnison, Colorado, proceed northerly along Colorado Highway 135 approximately 8 miles to Almont, Colorado, then northeasterly along Taylor Canyon Road, FSR 742 approximately 7.5 miles to the intersection with the North Bank Campground. Proceed through the campground. Southerly end of the trail is accessed in the back of the campground. Northerly access is from the Spring Creek Road, FSR 744, then northerly approximately 8 miles to FSR 554, Doctor Gulch Road, then easterly approximately 1.5 miles to the trailhead. If accessing with horse trailers, parking at the intersecton of FSR 744 is advised. The performance period for the proposed project is 90 calendar days.
