- Description
- The Smithsonian Institution is seeking proposals to furnish all supervision, labor, materials, and equipment required for the demolition and construction, and optional fabrication/installation of 25,000 sq.ft. exhibit space for the Mammals Hall Renovation at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of Natural History, Halls 13, 14, 15, and 16, located at 10th and Constitution Avenue, NW, Washington, DC, as set forth on Drawings and Specification dated May 11, 2001, for OPP Project No. 933109A. One-hundred percent (100%) construction drawings and thirty-five (35%) exhibit fabrication drawings are currently available. Firms will be requested to submit cost budget at 65% complete exhibit fabrication drawings and a firm fixed price after 100% review of fabrication documentation available in March 2002. It is anticipated that all funding will be available in Fiscal Year 2002 for this project for one firm fixed price contract award to the GC with exhibit fabrication as a subcontract. The Scope of Work includes, at a minimum: demolition, including demolition of interior masonry walls, doors, louvers, equipment, piping, ductwork, and conduit; temporary protective structures; interior and exterior finishes; HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection; asbestos and lead abatement; weather and security protection of existing building; exhibit construction; phasing. Interested firms must have both the bid documents and the drawings and specifications to submit an offer. This non-refundable cost is payable to Leet Melbrook. Bid documents will be available fifteen days after the publication of this notice. Firms responding to this announcement will be required to submit Cost and Technical Proposals which will be evaluated in accordance with the following factors: Plan of Accomplishment, Key Personnel and Subcontractors, Exhibit Fabricators and Installers, Firm's Experience and Past Performance, and Cost and Schedule of Values. The estimated price range for construction is between $5,000,000.and $7,000,000. The estimated price range for exhibit fabrication is between $7,000,000. and $10,000,000.
