Description

DESCRIPTION: Construction of a new wood frame single story addition to the existing building including a break room, elevator, elevator machine room, conference room, and office space. Site preparation includes excavation of existing fill adjacent to the existing building, and embankment with select fill as described in the specifications. Demolition of the existing and installation of new underground electric service entrance equipment. Moving an existing pad-mount transformer. Moving an existing 500-gallon above-ground fuel tank. Construction of a new exterior staircase with refuge area on second floor and construction of a new refuge area on the second floor for the existing exterior staircase. Reconfigure front entrance and install new doors for accessibility. Replace existing boiler with new in existing mechanical room. Remodel the existing first floor restrooms for accessibility. Retrofit existing door hardware with new accessible hardware. Structural modifications to the existing building to accommodate high-density storage units. Landscaping as identified in these specifications and on the drawings. Landscaping is limited to seeding and slope restoration. The project is located at the Forest Service Thorne Bay Ranger District, 1312 Federal Way, Thorne Bay Alaska on Prince of Wales Island 50 air miles west of Ketchikan Alaska. Access to Thorne Bay is either by Alaska Marine Highway Ferries and paved/gravel highway or by float plane. The 60-mile drive from the Ferry System Terminal at Hollis to Thorne Bay consists of 30 miles of two-lane paved highway and 30 miles of two-lane gravel highway (with current ongoing construction). Contract performance time will be 425 calendar days. All responsible sources may submit an offer which will be considered. The estimated price range for this project is $500,000 -- $1,000,000.
