- Description
- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Perkin-Elmer Instruments of Oak Ridge, TN, for four (4) Wideband Dual Phase Lock-In Amplifiers, Part #7280.***Sole source determination is based on the following: NIST is constructing a six-channel servo system to control the six degrees of freedom of a rigid body at a level below 1 nanometer. Each of the degrees of freedom will be handled with one lock-in amplifier. It is essential that the electronics to handle each channel be identical as they will all be handled with one central computer. Two (2) Perkin-Elmer lock-in amplifiers, Model #7280, are currently in use. To utilize different lock-in amplifiers on the different channels would require different computer interfaces which would degrade system performance.***Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD, and is required within 60 days after receipt of order.***The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334514, and the size standard is 500 employees.***No solicitation package will be issued.***This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations, however, responses received by June 29, 2001, will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
