- Description
- The Project Manager, Defense Communications and Army Transmission System (PM DCATS), Fort Monmouth, NJ is conducting a market survey to locate potential source for a contract to procure production MD-1352(P)/U Bandwidth Efficient Modem (BEM-7650) with associated spare parts and depot maintenance repair support. The BEM VLM-7650 is designed, developed, and manufactured by Comtech/EFData, 2114W. 7th Street, Tempe, Arizona. The government does not own nor can provide any technical design, manufacturing, or testing information regarding the BEM modem. The procured hardware must be interchangeable with the current deployed BEM systems down to the circuit card level. Part numbers for the current BEM hardware are PL/8410-1 (Chassis), VLM-7650C (Controller), VLM7650M.122110 (Modulator), VLM7650D.122110 (Demodulator), PL /8464-1 (System Interface Circuit Card Assembly), PL/8472-1 (Terrestrial Interface Circuit Card Assembly), and PL/8423-1 (Power Supply). Major BEM modem features include BPSK, QPSK, OQPSK, 8 PSK, 16 QAM modulations, data rate from 9.6 Kbps to 20 Mbps, both 70/140 IF frequency, and supports DCSS FDMA Control System (DFCS) interface. Product sheet of the BEM VLM-7650 can be found at the Comtech/EFData web site, www.comtechefdata.com. Contractor may be required to provide 2 units, on loan, for pre-contractual testing purposes. The government envisions to procure approximately 400 end items, associated spare parts, and depot maintenance repair support over multi years beginning in 4th QTR FY01. The government expects the initial hardware delivery to begin by 1st QTR FY02. Any interested sources with suitable modem equipment must send technical information to include, but not be limited to, detailed product specification, available test data, schedule availability and cost information, NLT 13 July 2001, to Bldg. 209, ATTN: AMSEL-RD-ST-SE-ST (Johnny Ng), Ft Monmouth, NJ 07703.
