Description
The acquisition will be for RDT&E to demonstrate and develop innovative navigation equipment and methodologies to support accurate sensor tracking in acquiring Digital Geophysical Mapping (DGM) surveys. Investigation are in support of both the US Army Corps of Engineers, Engineering and Support Center Huntsville and the ESTCP Program office for application in the Department of Defense's Ordnance and Explosives Program. The technology will support geophysical mapping of Formerly Used Defense Sites (FUDS), active Department of Defense (DOD) installations, Defense sites identified under the Base Realignment and Closure Act (BRAC), property adjoining DOD installations, and other federally controlled/owned sites which have been impacted by OE operations. This RFP is planned for up to five initial Phase I awards for concept study, presentation and demonstration valued at under $20,000 each. Phase I will be solely for navigation equipment demonstrations. The two most promising Phase I technologies will then be awarded a Phase II development/integration award valued at under $100,000 each. Phase II will demonstrate the technology integration with typical geophysical equipment such as the EM-61 and G858 magnetometer. Further investments will be justified based upon Phase II system performance, at up to $200,000.00. This acquisition will be in accordance with the provisions at Federal Acquisition Regulation Part 15. The NAIC code is 541330. This acquisition will be conducted on a full and open competitive basis. The period of performance for this requirement is one year. The contract type will be a one-year, firm-fixed price contract. The contract will be a Research and Development contract. It is anticipated that multiple awards will be made for this effort. This is not a request for proposals (RFP). It is anticipated that the RFP will be released on or about June 29, 2001 with proposals due on or about August 3, 2001. All responsible sources may request a copy of the RPF.
