- Description
- The contractor shall provide all personnel, management, supplies and equipment and any other items and services necessary to perform hydroseeding. For this contract, disregard the use of fertilizers, lime or other nutrient supplements in the hydroseed mixture. Seed Composition. Seed purity shall exceed 95% and there shall be no noxious weeds contained in the mixture. The seed composition formula shall consist of the following: 1) Festuca rubra, var. commutata (chewings fescue): 65%. 2) Koeleria cristata (Prairie June grasses): 30%. 3) Lupinus albicaulis (Sickle-keeled lupine): 5%. The rate of application for the above seed mix will be 80 pounds per acre. The composition of the hydroseed mix will be the same for all sites. The contractor shall apply 1700 lbs. of virgin wood fiber mulch be applied per acre. Absolutely no cardboard fiber mulch will be permitted in this application. The contractor shall incorporate 10 lbs. of "Staymoist" additive (a water retention polymer or comparable product), or an equivalent substitute per acre. It is estimated that the total number of acres in need of repair through hydroseeding may range from a minimum of 40 acres up to 87.5 acres, locations are approximate and may be expanded or changed depending upon need at the time the actual seeding is to occur. The hydroseed application will be applied directly to exposed soil and gravel. No ground preparation is required to be done by the contractor prior to the hydroseed application. The contractor will be expected to begin mobilization and to be prepared to attend post award meetings as needed during the month of September. Actual application of the Hydroseeding is expected to be started by the Contractor on approximately 24 September 2001 and completed by 23 November 2001. This schedule is tentative and will be adjusted according to training requirements or if climatic or weather conditions warrant. If the work has not been performed by 23 November (due to dry weather conditions), the Government will make arrangements with the contractor to postpone the completion of the work until the spring of 2002. It is expected that the period of performance on this requirement will be from September 2001 until the end of November 2001. This timeframe may be extended due to weather conditions that prevail at the time the work actually begins. This requirement is 100% set aside for small businesses. The size standard for a small business concern including its affiliates is a maximum of $5 million. SIC 0782, NAICS 561730, Landscaping Services. Telephonic requests will not be accepted. The anticipated issue date of the solicitation is July 11, 2001.
