- DESC: NSN N/A, Part Number N/A , The item to procure is The Abrams Tank Fire Control System Eyesafe Laser Range Finder (ELRF) solicitation requests proposals for production of an ELRF which meets the Abrams ELRF performance specifications. No Government technical data package will be provided. The Army's objective is to satisfy the Abrams Fire Control System requirements by selecting an operationally effective ELRF with the lowest life cycle cost. The acquisition method is a Request For Proposals resulting in a Firm Fixed Price type contract. The Army will implement the Abrams Tank Fire Control System ELRF program with a five-year production contract with options and include logistic support. Requirements are: The projected future Abrams fleet requirements are approximately 850 units over the next five years to support the AIM Overhaul and SEP Upgrade programs. It is also anticipated to include options for the Retrofit Program (approximately 741 units) and the U.S. Marines (approximately 403 units). To allow for production ramp-up the first year of the contract is estimated at 50 units and the following four years is estimated at a minimum of 16 units per month to a maximum of 40 units per month. The offer due date is on or about 30 July 01. (See solicitation for the actual offer due date). All responsible sources may submit an offer which will be considered. FOB is Destination. For use on the Abrams Tank. Estimated issue date is 30 July 2001. This solicitation will be issued electronically in accordance with FAR 4.501, 5.102(a)(7) and 14.205-1(c) therefore hardcopies will not be provided. CAUTION: This solicitation will be issued electronically as will any amendments thereto. Because of this, the Government is under no obligation and is in fact unable to maintain a bidders mailing list. It is therefore incumbent upon any interested parties to periodically access the above internet address in order to obtain any amendments which may be issued. Failure to obtain any said amendments and to respond to them prior to the date and time set for bid opening/receipt of proposals may render your bid or proposal nonresponsive and result in the rejection of same.
