Description
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to award a contract on a sole source basis to Emory University School of Medicine, 1639 Pierce Drive, Atlanta, GA 30322 to continue administration of the clinical and epidemiologic components of CDC's Early Detection Research Network (EDRN) study of cervical cancer that is being conducted at Grady Memorial Hospital Health Care System in Atlanta, GA. The administrative objectives are to continue the recruitment and enrollment of eligible women, to ensure safe and proper clinical evaluation and sample collection, and to collect and accurately record all patient and epidemiologic information required for the study. The project is a study of preinvasive cervical lesions in a high-risk urban population of women. To be considered eligible for this acquisition, Offerors must meet the following absolute eligibility criteria: (1) be a public or private academic institution, medical center, or health department with clinical responsibility for the gynecologic clinics at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, GA; (2) have permission to approach Grady Memorial Hospital patients for recruitment and enrollment into clinical studies; (3) have access to the clinical records of patients at Grady Memorial Hospital; (4) demonstrate access to a patient population in which the Offeror can reasonably predict ability to identify, and recruit into the study 7 women with dysplasia and 7 race and age matched control women each week for up to three years and (5) provide colposcopic directed biopsy confirmation of cervical lesions for all women with dysplasia by loaning pathology slides to CDC for review. Other than full and open competition is authorized pursuant to 41 U.S.C. 2253 (c)(1).
