- Description
- REQUEST FOR INFORMATION. The MILSATCOM Joint Program Office plans to hold a series of interchange meetings to assist the government in formulating the Advanced Polar System requirements and acquisition strategy. Industry is invited to participate in development of the Operational Requirements Document (ORD), Technical Requirements Document, and Payload/Terminal Interface Control Document. Industry participation also is invited in developing the acquisition strategy, including the Request for Proposal (RFP). A full and open competition is anticipated for the design, development and production of an Advanced Polar system, with the RFP release contemplated for July 2003. The Advanced Polar System will have capabilities compatible with the MILSATCOM Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) system and will have seamless connectivity with the AEHF system. The interchange meetings will occur periodically between July 2001 and July 2003. Participants in the initial interchange meeting will be notified of future meetings. At the initial meeting, the government will present the results of concept studies and the program strategy, and will discuss the process and schedule for the requirements development and industry input. Participants are encouraged to submit a one page statement describing your firm's interest and intended role in the program at the general meeting. Individual meetings will be scheduled with interested participants between 10-11 July 2001 at The Aerospace Corporation, 2350 East El Segundo Blvd., El Segundo, CA. Industry representatives should call Lt George Wood, SMC/MCX, at (310) 336-4867, regarding the general meeting and scheduling their company's individual meeting. The classified SECRET general meeting will start at 8:30 am on 10 July 2001. Visitors will check in at Aerospace building A1, starting at 8:00 am. Individual meetings must be scheduled no later than 5 July 2001. Security clearances for visit requests must be received by 05 July 01 by Ms Dianna Poe, Aerospace Corporation, P.O. It is not a RFP, and does not commit the Government to pay for preparation costs. Respondents are advised that no contract will be awarded on the basis of a response to this RFI or any follow-up information subsequently requested or submitted. This information will be used to support the acquisition of the Advanced Polar system; this acquisition is subject to review or cancellation at any time. An announcement will be made in the Commerce Business Daily before any RFP is issued. See Note 26.
