Description

Drydock and Repair, NOAA Ship WHITING to be performed at the contractor's facility. Performance period to commence approximately November 7, 2001, and shall be completed on or before January 8, 2002(63 calendar days). Observe winter holidays 22 November 2001 and 25 December 2001 through 1 January, 2002; shop work will be authorized with limited access to the ship. Basic contract items will include Tailshafts, Bearings and Propellers Repairs; Sea Valve Overhauls; Transducer Installation; Underwater Body Coating; Wood Decking Renewal; and others. There will also be option items. Vessels homeport is Norfolk, Virginia. Foreseeable costs will be applied for contract evaluation. Vessel will be available for inspection on 17 August 2001 in Boston, MA. Characteristics of NOAA Ship WHITING: Length Overall -- 163 feet -- 0 inches; Beam (moulded) -- 33 feet; Propulsion -- Diesel, twin screw; Cruising Speed -- 12 knots; Electric Service -- 220 kw, 225/450 volts AC; crew size -- 23; Forward Draft -- 9 feet-4 inches; Aft Draft -- 11 feet -- 3 inches; Displacement -- 842 long tons.
