- Description
- The United States Postal Service is pre-qualifying suppliers to replace its ADEPT (Automated Desktop Extended Processing Technology) contract. The Postal Service intends to award a single contract to one supplier by October 2001. The Postal Service is seeking a long-term supplier of desktop and mobile computing devices, peripherals, and support services. Also required are services to maintain, repair, and to replace the hardware procured. The Postal Service may include an option for maintenance of equipment presently deployed, the majority of which is Compaq brand computers with 3rd party peripherals. The contract will have an on-going technology refresh capability. The Postal Service is seeking equipment that is high quality and therefore is utilizing The Gartner Group's Enterprise ranking model. The following brands are acceptable: Compaq, Dell, HP, IBM, and Toshiba. The Postal Service intends to award a five-year contract with some number of additional option years. The Postal Service expects this contract to be valued at approximately $1 Billion. However, the specific life span and value will be finalized during the solicitation process. The Postal Service requires a supplier that has demonstrated superior past performance with customers similar in size and complexity to the Postal Service. The Postal Service requires the contract to offer most favored customer pricing and the ability to negotiate any single order for 500 or more systems or single order valued at $1 million or more.
