- THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 2 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR VIDEO PROCESSING SYSTEM. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote. This notice serves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a written amendment will not be issued. The purpose of this amendment is to answer all the questions received regarding this solicitation. SEE BELOW. The due date for receipt of offers is not extended. Companies shall provide the information stated in the synopsis/RFQ posted on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service (NAIS) on June 29, 2001. Documents related to this procurement are available over the Internet and are in Microsoft Office 97 format and reside on the World Wide Web (WWW) server which may be accessed using a WWW browser application. The Internet site, or URL, for the NASA/KSC Business Opportunities home page is http://nais.msfc.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/EPS/bizops.cgi?gr=CL&pin=76 Questions and Answers: 1) What kind of training is required? On hardware, software, or other type? Training is mostly on the software. I am familiar with the hardware. However if there is hardware that I am not familiar with your company representative should be able to explain exactly what it is and what it is there to accomplish. The unit is to be delivered as a working non-linear editing workstation. 2) Does the processing system have to be an IBM? Meaning if we can provide you with a very price competitive system, that is also performance competitive would you be interested? I have IBM AT's in the lab and that is the platform that will do the job that I need done and that I am most comfortable with maintaining myself. If your company can provide 24-Hour on-site support for this other platform that does the same thing for the same price, we will look at it. 3) Which editing software do you need? (adobe premier or In-sync speed razor)7 Adobe Premier non-linear digital video editing software, additional 3rd party digital video compositing and effects software including Editing software Adobe Premiere 5.1 RT or latest version. 4) Do you need the fostex ps 3.1 audio system or do you already have it? I need Fostex PS 3.1 audio system with the complete system. I will need the Fostex PS 3.1 audio system installed and running with the system when delivered on site. 5) Do you need the Sony DRV mini tape drive? I need Sony DRV-100 mini DV internal tape drive with the completed system when delivered on site. 6) Are you sure they want SCSI storage and not Fibre Channel? I am not going to be porting the signal long distances and for the bend radius of the cables, the workstation will be in a tight corner where most FC, the cables bend radius might exceed 30mm and there will be traffic behind the workstation, I would not be able to control, 100% of the time, whether there would be anything put on the cables or whether someone might step on them. There is also a great deal of movement in this area. Therefore SCSI is preferred over Fiber. 7) What software do you require? Software that must be included: Note* All Software must be supplied with literature and boxes from original manufacturers, Adobe Premier non-linear digital video editing software, additional 3rd party digital video compositing and effects software including Editing software Adobe Premiere 5.1 RT or latest version In-Sync Speed Razor 2000 X Real-time capture and playback -- T3K advanced playback engine including: Targa FX Chooser with a selection of 100s of pre-prepared effects Targa FX Factory with full editing tools to create key-frameable custom effects Commotion 4.0 -- Paint, rotoscoping, compositing, motion tracking, keying Hollywood FX Bronze- Broadcast quality 3D FX Sonic Foundry Stream Anywhere LE -- Export streaming media files TitleDeko Pro -- Award-winning character generation Pipeline ProVTR -- Frame accurate machine control Media Cleaner Pro -- Export streaming media files PhotoShop 6.0 (Full Version) Acid music -- audio mixer software Minerva Impression CD Pro or version that works with system. System is to be delivered as complete integrated ready-to-edit workstation with videodisk storage with all hardware and software included within two weeks of procurement. I 8) How much training do you require? Installation and training support consisting of a three-day on-site training class to be provided by the vendor. Vendor will provide two years of support. Vendor must have capability of providing on-site support. 9) Where is the installation site? Kennedy Space Center in Florida? The final destination for the workstation will be the Operations and Checkout Building, Room 2271C at Kennedy Space Center, FL. See Yahoo.com for road map to Florida and Kennedy Space Center. 10) Can you give me an idea of the kinds of videos you wish to produce in terms of final output? I will be producing videos to be ported to a variety of formats, both DVD and CD-ROM, as well as VHS and S-VHS, the input will have to stream data, from these sources plus mini-DV and Digital Hi-8. This may help me make suggestions to help you get the kinds of results you want. 11) I am trying to find more information so that I might quote out the PC but I am browsing IBM's WWW Site and seeing prices for the "IBM Intellistation Z-Pro Pentium PC Workstation w/ Windows 2000" as noted in the bid request and prices range from $2000 -- $17000 for this model. Is it possible to acquire any more specific information such as the internal configuration required by the bid? The IBM Intellistation mentioned in this procurement must meet a requirement of dual Pentium III processors running no less than 933 megahertz each. The Pentium IV processor is acceptable with test specifications that show full competency in working with ALL required software (written out) can be provided. 2GB RAM, 18GB HD If this is not enough, as long as the workstation performs software capabilities in an uninterrupted manner for a period of no less than one week straight. (I.E. no power interruptions, no freezes, no glitches of any kind during normal digital video manipulation and editing operations.) There have been to my knowledge; no Pentium IV tests run on the software requested.
