- Description
- The Illinois Division Office of the Federal Highway Administration plans to award a purchase order to the Institute of Advanced Manufacturing Sciences, Inc. They will perform research to define the machinability of high performance steels in quantifiable terms. This research shall include the quenched and tempered, thermo-mechanically processed, and hot rolled forms of ASTM A709 and A710. Their machinability will be compared to A36, the standard structural steel used in bridges in the United States for more than 50 years. The North American Product Classification System Code is 541710 and the small business standard is 500 employees. THIS IS AN UNRESTRICTED PURCHASE. The Institute of Advanced Manufacturing Sciences, Inc. is the only known source that has the facility required to work on machinability issues on a scientific basis and therefore is the only known source who can perform this work. All questions shall be directed to Anne Hellrung, Illinois Division Office on 217-492-4611. This is a Simplified Acquisition and the anticipated award date is on or about July 9, 2001.=20
