Description

The U.S. Marine Corps Direct Reporting Program Manager for Advanced Amphibious Assault (DRPM AAA) intends to award a sole source indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract to the McDonnell Douglas Helicopter Company (CAGE Code 8V613), 5000 East McDowell Road, Mesa, AZ for technical and logistic support services for MK44 automatic cannons. The general scope of the effort includes: program management, configuration management, engineering support, safety support, logistic support, test support, fleet support, interfacing with USMC/Navy operational forces, providing facilities such as a test range, providing inspection and test records, providing inspection equipment, providing project progress reviews, management of hazardous materials, establishing Environmental Safety and Health design and manufacturing criteria, establishing a Pollution Prevention Program, providing incident reporting and providing spare parts support. All of the aforementioned support tasks (not just a portion of) are for both the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Navy. The contract will consist of a base year and four option years. The McDonnell Douglas Helicopter Company developed the MK44 automatic cannon, which is proprietary to the company. The MK44 automatic cannon has been designated by the Marine Corps to be the main armament on the Advanced Amphibious Assault Vehicle (AAAV), which is currently being developed by General Dynamics Amphibious Systems at the AAAV Technology Center, 991 Annapolis Way, Woodbridge, VA 22191-1215.
