Description

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Replacement of Jack's River Bridge. The work involved includes furnishing and installing a new 140' long prefabricated Corr-Ten steel bridge. Project also includes realignment of the approach roads, some clearing and timber removal, and the construction of new abutments. Upon acceptance of the new bridge, contractor will remove and dispose of the existing 1930's-era steel truss bridge, its end abutments and an intermediate abutment. Jack's River is one of the most pristine rivers in north Georgia and is home to a significant number of threatened and endangered aquatic species. Substantial erosion control and monitoring measures are included in the project. The bridge to be removed contains lead-based paint. Contractor will take specific precautions to protect the environment from lead contamination. PROJECT LOCATION: Project is located east of Cisco, GA approximately 10 miles on a gravel forest road, at the Tennessee-Georgia border.
