Description

The work consists of, but is not limited to, the following items of work: Dredging will be performed at various locations along the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal from Station 0+000 to Station 99+000 and the Upper Chesapeake Bay portion of this project from Station 162+308 to Station 250+440 (Lower Chesapeake Range). Dredging from Station 0+000 to Station 99+000 will be required to a depth of 35 feet with a one-foot allowable overdepth permitted. Dredging from Station 162+308 to Station 250+440 will be required to a depth of 40 feet with a one-foot allowable overdepth permitted. Work areas will be limited by a vertical plane through the required depth contour with no side or end slopes. Dredging will be performed to the channel edge only in the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal and to a point extending 25 feet outside the channel edges in the Upper Chesapeake Bay Approach Channel where shoaling occurs along the channel edge within the authorized channel limits. The material to be removed from Station 162+308 to Station 250+440 must be performed by Bucket Dredge only with placement by bottom dump scows. Overboard disposal area known as Site 92 in the Chesapeake Bay will be utilized for material removed from Station 162+308 to Station 250+440. Federally owned Chesapeake City disposal area will be utilized for material removed from Station 0+000 to Station 99+000. Solicitation documents will be furnished on CD-ROM only on or about July 17, 2001; hard copies will not be available. Contractors may view and/or download this solicitation and all amendments from the Internet at the following address: https://ebs.nap.usace.army.mil/AdvertisedSolicitations.asp on or after issue date of the solicitation; however the official media of distribution for this solicitation is the CD-ROM. One copy of the CD-ROM will be furnished to each bidder at no charge. Requests for a CD-ROM must be made by registering on the Internet. No written or fax requests shall be accepted. If any information changes during the advertisement period, contractors are responsible to make changes to their user profile on the Internet. Failure to make changes in their user profile may cause a delay in receiving the solicitation and amendments. Bidders are responsible for printing paper copies of the solicitation. Bids will be opened on or about August 16, 2001 at 11:00 am. This procurement is unrestricted. The NAICS Code is 234990 with a size standard of $17.0 million. To be considered small for purpose of Government procurement, a firm must perform at least 40 percent of the volume dredged with its own equipment or equipment owned by another small dredging concern. The estimated range of the project is $1,000,000.00 to $5,000,000.00. Liquidated damages will be specified and Davis Bacon rates are applicable to this procurement. Bonding and insurance are required. This procurement will be advertised as unrestricted. Affirmative Action to ensure equal opportunity is applicable to the resulting contract.
