Description

The U.S. Geological Survey, Water Resources Discipline, requires drilling services to obtain core samples at Englebright Lake, in Nevada County, CA, as part of the Upper Yuba River Studies Program. The contractor will obtain core samples at 15 locations, 2 boreholes per location, in reservoir water approx 30m deep. The depth of each hole will be approx 30m, total sample length approx 900m. Option for up to 2 additional boreholes. Anticipated performance period 28 days commencing late Sept/early Oct 2001. The Government intends to award this contract on a sole source basis to DOSECC, Inc., Salt Lake City, UT, the only responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. Proposed contractor's GLAD800 is the only known portable drilling system designed to collect long continuous cores from lakes for scientific requirements. No other known drilling system can core in water to required depths from a modular barge rather than a large vessel or offshore drilling platform.
