Pre-Solicitation Notice for Solicitation No. 01SI101459 is currently available -- The solicitation, any amendments, and other documents related to this solicitation will be posted online at www.pn.usbr.gov/contracts/construction on or about July 23, 2001 (this is an estimated date, you'll need to monitor our website frequently to ascertain actual issue/posting date of the solicitation as well as any amendments). The pre-solicitation notice is currently posted on the above website. If you are interested in competing for this contract, you must download and/or print the solicitation documents, including any amendments, from our website. The solicitation and any amendments will be posted in the Adobe Acrobat format. If you don't have the free-of-charge Adobe Acrobat Reader, there's a link on our site to it. Bidders are strongly encouraged to register via our website to be included on the planholder list. No paper copies or CD-ROMs will be issued unless our website becomes inoperable, then the solicitation and any amendments will be made available on CD-ROM or paper. If issued on CD-ROM or paper, one copy will be mailed free-of-charge to each party on the planholder list. The principal components of the work to be performed under these specifications include: Design, furnish, install and test new replacement and modernization elevator equipment for the Left and Right Powerplant elevators. The main items of new equipment shall include: gearless traction hoist machines, programmable logic controllers with solid-state DC Silicon Controlled Rectifiers (SCRs), car buffers, governors, traction and compensation wire ropes, sheaves (deflector, car, counterweight, and compensation), traveling cables, hoistway wiring, hoistway lighting, hoistway switches, car control switches, safety switches, pit stop switches, seismic upgrade equipment, pit high water detection devices, fixtures, roller guides, safeties, elevator protection pads, doors and associated equipment, and door operators and associated equipment. Remove and dispose of the existing equipment that is not reused. Refurbish the car assemblies and counterweights for the elevators. The car slings and platforms shall be reused and modified to accept the new equipment to be installed, including new cabs, roller guides, top-of-car operating station, sheaves and safeties. The cabs shall be replaced. The new cabs shall be fitted with new fixtures, alarm bells, fan, heater, and lighting. The underside of the platform shall be fireproofed. The counterweights shall be reused and modified to accept the new equipment to be installed, including new roller guides, sheaves, and buffers. Clean, inspect, and report on the condition of the other existing equipment and materials to be reused. Report immediately on any of these items that need to be repaired or replaced. Prepare previously painted surfaces of existing equipment and materials to be reused and paint these items. Provide spare parts. Provide training and diagnostic equipment to Bureau of Reclamation personnel for operation and maintenance of the modernized elevator systems. Provide adjustments and maintenance service to the elevator equipment for a period of one year. Reuse the existing main line disconnect switches, counterweight guide rails, car guide rails, guide rail brackets, bolts, machine beams, hoistway support structure, steel inserts, undamaged conduit, pull boxes, and the hoistway door frames and sills for all four elevators.
