Description
U.S. Army, TACOM-ARDEC is conducting a Sources Sought/Market Survey to identify potential sources for the improvement and support of the Javalin hydrodynamic code. Requirements include generation of code modifications to the Vec-Dyna hydrodynamic code to correct problems with sliding interface and contact fracture during predictions of liner formations of advanced warheads. Javalin will be used to generate advanced EFP liner designs for the Collinear, Ultralong, APS, ESL and multi-mode programs. Javalin will incorporate experimental x-ray data for subsequent liner design optimizations. Javalin will provide patterns that can be put onto liners to prevent artificial buckling. Javalin will have a reactive burn model to accurately simulate MPI, complex warhead geometries, and wave shapers. Javalin will have an explicit solver to include support for fluids using a Eulerian/ALE formulation and also to handle fluid/structure interaction problems. This effort will also improve on the GUI in the area of Generalized Mesh Generation. In addition, Javalin will also be used to predict on-target performance of penetrator versus conventional armors, ceramic armors, reactive armors, concretes, and other projectiles. This involves incorporation of Spallation models. Moreover, this effort will involve simulation and design support of complex 3-D EFP liner designs; resolve complex shock transmission through multi-layered EFP liners with and without IMT; general technical support for installing and maintaining codes, generate technical manuals and conduct training. The government is interested in reviewing responses from those firms who can meet these requirements. Responses/information submitted should be pertinent and specific in the technical area described above, on each of the following qualifications: (1) Experience: An outline of previous projects, specific work previously performed or being performed and any in-house research and development effort; (2) Personnel: Name, professional qualifications and specific experience of scientist, engineers and technical personnel who may be assigned as a principal investigator and/or project officer; (3) Facilities: Availability and description of special facilities required to perform in the technical areas under consideration. A statement regarding industry security clearance. Any other specific and pertinent information as pertains to this particular area of procurement that would enhance our consideration and evaluation of the information submitted. Responses to this notice will NOT be notified of the assessment of the information submitted. This is a sources sought notice for planning purposes only. This is NOT a solicitation and does NOT obligate the Government to issue a solicitation. The Government will NOT pay for any information submitted under this announcement. All responses are required within 15 calendar days to, email: stang@pica.army.mil or Commander, U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC, Attn: AMSTA-AR-WEE, S. Tang, Bldg. 3022, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07805-5000. See numbered Notes 25 and 26 in Monday's edition of the CBD.
