- Description
- The Warren Grant Magnuson Clinical Center, located in Bethesda, Maryland is the National Institutes of Health's center for clinical research. It is a 14 story building with more than 5,000 rooms, 9 miles of corridor, 2.4 million square feet, 19 patient units, 15 outpatients clinics and numerous research laboratories. The National Institutes of Health has a 8(a) competitive set aside for small business requirement under the Commercial Services to provide patient escort services for the Clinical Center. The Standard NACIS code is 561210. The NIH admits patients to protocols with the purpose of conducting patient research programs. The types of patients treated at the Clinical Center range from those who are incapacitated to those who are ambulatory. The contractor shall be responsible for the transporting of patients to apppointments, clinical specimens, research specimens, blood products, medical records, pharmacy items, luggage, flowers etc. This service will be required twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7)days a week, including holidays. The performance period for this contract is anticipated to be for (1) one basic year beginning September 23, 2001 with (4) four consecutive (12) twelve month option periods. A fixed price type contract with performance based measures will be used for this acquisition. This requirement has been determined to fall within the definition of Commercial Services as defined in FAR 2.101. Consistent with the requirements of FAR 5.203(a) and (h) -- publizing and response time, this proposed contract action shall be published in the Commerce Business Daily 15 days before issuance of a solicitation. The solicitation for this requirement will be available on or about July 17, 2001 with a closing date approximately 10 days after issuance. Requests for solicitations must be submitted in writing via mail, fax or email. No telephone requests will be accepted.
