Description
The International Boundary & Water Commission, United States Section, requires the furnishing of labor, materials, and equipment for the construction of a sheetpile and riprap erosion control structure. The structure is intended to provide erosion protection for the Hatch Siphon crossing of the Rio Grande channel. The siphon crossing is located near the town of Hatch, approximately 50 miles north of Las Cruces, New Mexico on Interstate 25. Specifically, the work at the Hatch Siphon is located approximately 1.7 miles west of the town of Salem, New Mexico, following State Road 390. The work shall include the installation of sheet pile cutoff walls, removal of existing riprap and subsequent placement of new riprap and filter material. Installation of the sheetpile and riprap will require temporary diversion of surface water flows in the Rio Grande. Additionally, installation of the sheet pile walls will require that existing riprap be temporarily removed. The estimated range of construction is between $250,000 and $500,000. Tentative dates for issuing and opening IFB 01-07 are July 17, 2001 and August 18, 2001, respectively. Contract performance period is scheduled at 100 calendar days after issuance of Notice to proceed. Plans will be available for inspection at the International Boundary & Water Commission, US Section, 4171 North Mesa, Building C, Suite 224, El Paso, Texas 79902-1441. Copies of the bid packages are available at no charge. All requests for bid documents must be in writing, no telephone or facsimile requests will be accepted. Requests must include business name, point of contact, address, telephone number (include area code), and IFB number. Arrangements can be made for a site visit, which is highly recommended. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 234990 for All Other Heavy Construction.
