- Description
- Repair by replacement of eight (8) Aircraft Shelter Doors on Building 500 at the Duluth Air National Guard Base, Duluth International Airport, Duluth, Minnesota. Work includes the repair by replacement of eight overhead doors (four on the north side and four on the south side). Replacement doors shall be of the accordion fabric type, such as the Megadoor brand or an approved equivalent, to remain consistent with recent, similar hangar door replacements at the base. Work also includes the construction of a new roof able to withstand designed weather loads, as well as additional cross bracing required to reinforce the building in the north/south directions. The estimated price range of this project is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. A firm fixed-price construction contract is contemplated. The Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) code for this work is 1542, General Contractors-Nonresidential Buildings, Other than Industrial Buildings and Warehouses. The corresponding North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 233320, Commercial and Institutional Building Construction. This acquisition is unrestricted regarding business size, and all responsible sources are encouraged to bid. If the low bidder is a large business and the award amount exceeds $1,000,000, the firm shall be required to submit a Small, Small Disadvantaged and Women-Owed Small Business Subcontracting Plan IAW FAR 52.219-0009 (ALT I) after evaluation of bids but prior to award of the contract. SOL available o/a 16 July, with BOD o/a 15 August 2001. The Government requires a 90 calendar day bid acceptance period for this project. Bidders may request one copy of the solicitation package by submitting a written request to the address shown above. No telephonic or faxed requests will be accepted. The request must be accompanied by a check or money order in the amount of $50.00 payable to TREASURER OF THE UNITED STATES. Due to the limited number of sets available, distribution must be limited to prime contractors and major first-tier subcontractors only. Suppliers and second-tier subcontractors may only request a list of planholders. The solicitation will be available for review at the Minneapolis, St. Paul, and Duluth Builders' Exchanges, Construction Market Data, and Dodge-Scan.
