Description

Technology Development for Nosocomial Infection Management. Supports the AF Medical Service Force Protection Readiness Programs Support for Development of Rapid Diagnostic and Fingerprinting Technologies using Molecular Monitoring Systems for the Detection and Identification of Nosocomial or Hospital-acquired Infections (HAI) and Laboratory-acquired Infections (LAI). The Air Force Institute for Environment, Safety and Occupational Health Risk Analysis, Surveillance Directorate, Epidemiological Surveillance Division, intends to make a Sole Source purchase from Vital Probes, Inc. (VPI), Scranton, PA. NAIC Code 54171 has been assigned. A SECRET Security Clearance is not required in the performance of this work. This purchase is for developing nucleic acid probes for use with rapid thermocyclers and molecular fingerprints using Repetitive Polymerase Chain Reaction (Rep-PCR) against pathogenic organisms known to cause nosocomial infections. The goal of the procurement is to advance rapid clinical diagnosis for use in medical treatment facilities to identify and treat disease, identify common carriers of distinct pathogens, identify common sources of outbreak and relate epidemiological information to identify sources of acute antibiotic resistance.
