- Description
- RFQ issued for the Webb Research Corporation brand Apex Standard Temperature Profiler, quantity six (6) each. Provide FOB delivered price to Honolulu, HI. Also provide Federal tax ID number and DUNS number with quote. The Apex is programmed to drift at 100db pressure surface during the day, then ascend to surface while measuring water temperature at 2db intervals. The Apex will remain at surface for 10-12 hours to transmit temperature profile data via ARGOS transmitter to NOAA Polar Orbiting Satellites. The float will then descend to drift depth for the next cycle. NOAA uses the dual depth estimates of water motion to simulate drift which diurnal, vertically migrating larvae (fish and/or crustacean) might experience, giving a first estimate of larval dispersion at the times and locations where floats are deployed. Web Research brand currently the standardized profiling float for the ARGO Project. This is a simplified acquisition with an estimated value of less than $100,000.
