Description

This contract consists of 40-60 fields scattered throughout Land Between The Lakes (LBL) with a total of 300 acres. Contractor shall furnish all labor, equipment, and materials necessary to gain access, bushhog woody vegetation if needed, prepare seedbed, apply fertilizer, and plant each field in a combination of winter wheat, orchardgrass, timothy, and white clover. Fields that have not been worked in several years and that have woody vegetation should be bushhogged prior to disking. Planting of fields will include soil seedbed preparation adequate for good seed germination (seedbed preparation must consist of at least two diskings using a hard land cutting-type disk and at least one disking using a farm-type leveling disk); fertilizer shall be applied at the rate of 100 pounds per acre of 17-15-20 or equivalent. Fields are to be seeded with a mixture consisting of 50 pounds of wheat per acre (6 to 10 grains per square foot), 10 pounds of orchardgrass (Benchmark, Potomoc, or Hallmark variety) per acre; 3 pounds of timothy (Clair variety) and 2 pounds of Ladino white clover per acre. Seed may be broadcast or drilled (if broadcast, cultipacking will be required immediately after seeding). If seed is mixed with fertilizer, it must be applied on the same dayin which it is mixed. Clover seed mus tbe inoculated iwth proper white clover inoculant bacteria. Wheat, orchardgrass, timothy, and clover seed must be currently certified clean and test at least 90 percent germination. All equipment must be maintained in proper functioning condition. All work shall be performed between August 15, and October 15, 2001, with a beginning date no later than August 20, 2001.
