- Description
- Westinghouse Savannah River Company (WSRC), in performance of its prime contract, DE-AC09-96SR18500, as management and operating contractor for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) at the Savannah River Site near Aiken, South Carolina, is seeking expressions of interest in an effort to determine the cost effectiveness of outsourcing an occupational medical program of the following magnitude. The purpose of the occupational medical program is to provide for the safety and health of workers at SRS through the provision of medical and other health related services by qualified personnel possessing appropriate certification and training credentials. Employee fitness for duty is a foremost objective of contractor occupational medical programs, and the performance of health evaluations is essential to the process. High-priority evaluations include preplacement (health status and fitness for duty), medical surveillance (jobs involving specific physical, chemical, or biological hazards), qualification (job assignments with specific medical qualifications standards), return to work (ensure that the employee may return to work without undue health risk to self or others), job transfer (determine whether the employee's health status and fitness for the newly assigned duties can be performed in a safe and reliable manner), and termination (health status review). Occupational medical services will be provided to the DOE, United States Forestry Services (USFS), WSRC and its partners (hereinafter referred to as WSRC), and Wackenhut Services, Inc. (WSI) on a routine as well as emergency basis. Emergency medical and first aid treatment will also be provided to sub-tier subcontract employees as the need arises. Total site population is approximately 12,000 personnel. Joint ventures, partnerships, or subcontracting arrangements will be considered. Suppliers desiring consideration should request a copy of the request of information, the "draft" scope of work, the medical procedures index, and be prepared to submit their estimates by COB July 27, 2001. The request can be made electronically to glynna.regan@srs.gov. A question and answer session will be held on July 12, 2001, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at The Partridge Inn Hotel, located at 2110 Walton Way, Augusta, GA. For those suppliers unable to attend, WSRC is seeking to establish an interactive question and answer session utilizing the Internet during this session. Specific instructions for the Internet connection can be obtained by contacting Ms. Regan via telephone at (803) 952-8583, via fax at (803) 952-6092, or via e-mail. This is not a formal request for proposal. It is a request for expressions of interest only.
