- Description
- The U.S. Coast Guard Engineering Logistics Center is seeking qualified Forensic Engineering sources to investigate underwater body corrosion on the Coast Guard 47' Motor Life Boats. Sources must be fully qualified engineers and possess a thorough understanding of corrosion, electrical systems, and forensic engineering in system/component failures specifically in relation to small aluminum boats. The Coast Guard ELC shall provide all required technical manuals, drawings and specifications pertaining to the failed component(s). The selected contractor shall be required to submit Root Cause Failure Report, in addition to monthly progress reports to the USCG; an oral presentation, with handouts, of the findings and recommendations prior to delivery of the Root Cause Failure Report; and provide preliminary findings as they develop. The contractor shall be required to visit various Coast Guard Headquarters Offices, various field units, and outside activities performing areas of assistance to the Coast Guard. All required information to accomplish performance shall be contained in the solicitation package. The contractor shall be required to provide all labor and material needed to accomplish these services. It is the Government's belief that only Dominion Engineering possesses the expertise and capabilities to provide the services required. At the present time, it is anticipated to award a sole-source contract to Dominion Engineering for these services. However, the Coast Guard shall consider other qualified sources that respond to this notice. Sources that respond to this notice must submit information describing their capabilities. This information must be adequate to afford a complete representation of their capabilities and experience including professional qualifications, specialized experience and technical competence, capacity to accomplish performance, past performance, and geographical location. THIS INFORMATION MUST BE RECEIVED IN THIS OFFICE NO LATER THAN 25 JULY 2001. ANY INFORMATION RECEIVED AFTER THIS DEADLINE SHALL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ACQUISITION. This synopsis is issued pursuant to FAR 6.203-1 and TAM 1206.302. See Numbered Notes 22 and 26.
