Description
The contractor shall provide qualified personnel, facilities, instructional materials, and services to prepare and teach the "Safety Aspects of Industrial Radiography" course. The course is intended to increase and maintain the technical competence of NRC and Agreement State radiation control personnel with an understanding of the design, operation, and radiation safety of industrial radiography operations. The course shall include the technical aspects of industrial radiography; equipment used to make a radiograph; required radiation safety equipment; radiation safety as it applies to the receipt, use, storage, and transportation of industrial radiography radiation sources; training and supervision of radiographers; organization and operation of a radiography company; Agreement State licensing requirements; proper conduct of inspections and investigations of licensed industrial radiography operations and unusual occurrences; experience with, and case histories of industrial radiography accidents; packaging and transportation of industrial radiography radiation sources; and the contractor shall conduct field exercises which will allow the student to gain hands-on experience in handling all the tools and equipment required of a radiographer. This is a commercial item acquisition. The period of performance is five years. A firm fixed price per course contract is anticipated. The North American Industry Classification System code for the services required is 611519. This proposed procurement is full and open competition and proposals may be submitted by all offerors, i.e., small businesses, small-disadvantaged businesses, and large businesses. These services were previously performed by Hellier Associates, Inc. under contract number NRC-26-96-264, with a total award amount of $104,740.00. Contract number NRC-26-96-264 can be viewed at NRC's Public Document Room (PDR) located on the first floor of NRC's One White Flint North Building at 11555 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD.
