Description

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) requires a pulsed Nd:YAG laser for use with an existing instrument for atmospheric trace gas detection. Because the laser is for use in an instrument that will be used in the field, it must meet a series of requirements for versatility, size, portability, etc. The laser must supply 15 milijoule (mJ) pulses that are less than 15 nanoseconds (ns) in duration at a wavelength of 532 nanometers (nm) and at a repetition rate of 100 Hertz (Hz). It must be externally air cooled, i.e. it must not require connection to an external water cooling source that would hinder portability. The dimensions of the laser head must not exceed 15 inches X 5 inches width X 5 inches height, including the second harmonic generation crystals and optics that separate the 532 nm light from the fundamental. The dimensions of the power supply must not exceed 24 inches length X 12 inches width X 24 inches height. Delivery is required in 60 days or less ARO. This procurement is being conducted per Simplified Acquisition Procedures FAR Part 13 (NTE $100,000). No RFQ package is available. All responsible sources may submit a quotation and product description. Responses are due via mail or FAX by August 10, 2001. Award decision will be based upon the best value to the Government, with technical merit and past performance as well as price being considered..
