Description
The burden and impact of rubella and congenital rubella syndrome (CRS) will be determined in Ghana using surveillance for clinical defects associated with CRS and surveillance for rubella infection among women of childbearing age using cross sectional surveys. The purpose of this project is to estimate the burden of rubella and CRS in Ghana through: 1) surveillance for clinical disease focusing on the most specific clinical defects (e.g., congenital cataracts) and the centers most likely to identify those defects; and 2) surveillance for rubella infection among women of child bearing age using cross sectional sero surveys. Ghana has been identified by the Global Alliance for Vaccine and Immunization (GAVI) board as a "priority country" for participation in the global initiative on new vaccines. =20 Independently, and not as an agent of the Government, the Contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, materials, supplies, travel and transportation except as specified herein to develop, implement, evaluate, and summarize findings for developing, conducting, and evaluating the burden of rubella infection in Ghana. The Ghanaian Ministry of Health (MOH) in Accra, Ghana is the primary national public health agency in Ghana and is the only known organization in Ghana with the experience and qualifications to perform project objectives. CDC believes that no other agency in Ghana or the United States has access to medical records of all Ghanaian citizens and/or the national serology bank. Furthermore, CDC believes that the Ghanaian MOH is the only organization that can solicit health care providers to participate in the study. Therefore, CDC intends to make a sole source award to the Ghanaian MOH. However, any responsible source who may satisfy the minimum requirements listed below may submit a quote which will be considered by the CDC. The minimum qualifications and experience necessary to perform work are:=20 1. Ability to access information from medical organizations/providers in Ghana 2. Ability to provide trained staff to complete project objectives 3. Knowledge of all health systems and health systems' operations throughout Ghana 4. Access to national serology bank of women tested for HIV infection organization that can solicit health care providers to participate in the study. =20 Requests for solicitation may be submitted by e-mail to boh9@cdc.gov. When requesting the solicitation state your name, company name and complete address, phone/fax number, and e-mail address. All questions/concerns shall be submitted via e-mail to the above address.
