Description

The U.S. Department of Commerce, Southeast Fisheries Science Center, intends to procure services to conduct aerial surveys for right whales using standardized line-transect aerial survey methodology (e.g., Distance) for cetaceans off the coastal waters from the Georgia-South Carolina border north to and including the entrance to the Chesapeake Bay. The survey period is to begin on or about January 5, 2002, weather permitting. A minimum of three surveys per week are expected to be conducted on all fair weather days through February 2002, or for approximately 8 weeks. The Contractor will need to assemble a team of observers with previous experience in conducting aerial surveys for cetaceans, and arrange for a suitable twin-engine aircraft capable of safely carrying three observers and flying up to 35 NM seaward of the coast. This service is being acquired under Far Part 12 Commercial Items. Conduct of these aerial surveys will be contingent upon the availability of FY 2002 funds . The NAICS code 541370 applies.
