Description
This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for a commercial item prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented, with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation. Written quotations will not be issued and each contractor is expected to respond on his/her letterhead with all required product information. RFQ 679-4048-0117 is hereby assigned to this procurement and shall be referenced on all correspondence relating to this acquisition. This RFQ is issued using Simplified Acquisition Procedures and incorporates all provisions and clauses as those in effect through FAC 97-27 and VAAR 97-1. The DVA Medical Center, Tuscaloosa, AL intends to negotiate a sole source contract with Absorbent Products Co., Inc. 2121 S. Woodland Circle, Bowling Green, OH 43402 for approximately 360 cases (480/cs) of Absorbent Pads. DESC: Specifications as follows: (a) Total weight 18.5 19.5g. (b) Overall dimensions 10.25" 10.75 " long x 3-3/8 x 3-5/8 inches wide. (c) Mat Dimensions, core length 8.25-8.50 inches; core width 3-3/8 3-5/8 inches, nonwoven overlap/wrap "-1 inch (nonwoven wrap to have 8% (approx.") of additional (inside) area to allow for core swelling at full saturation. (d) End seal length 1", pressure sensitive end seal which extends over the entire non-absorbent portion of the pad, and extends a minimum of 1 inch over the absorbent material for stabilization; end seal to be contact coated with a minimum of 75% coverage. (e) Component weight, absorbent core 18.200g nominal; nonwoven 1.006g nominal; construction adhesive -- .294g nominal. (f) Minimum absorbency "dip and drip" test, 0.9% Saline ( Pro #: QCDIP)(3 minute) 260 mls. Minimum0.9% Saline (5 minute) 300 mls. Minimum; 0.9 Saline (10 minute) 345 mls. Minimum. (g) Packaging 480 bulk with liner bag. (g) Component list: nonwoven white 100% thermalbonded polypropylene fabric, 17.7 grams per square yard, 9-inch width. (h) Absorbent Core: composite airlaid/superabsorbent weight, 450 gm/sq. mtr.; superabsorbent content, 45% by weight; bonding fiber content, not to exceed 6% by weight. (i) Construction Adhesive clear or white pressure sensitive. (j) Packaging: liner bag, H DPE, NLT 17 micron; corrugated, 24"x12"x12" ECT 32. All interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposal. A determination by the Contracting Officer not to compete this proposed procurement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether the sources exist necessary for a competitive procurement. The delivery date will be no later than 30 days after award of contract. Contract award is subject to the availability of funds.
