Description

This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for noncommercial services prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 13, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Solicitation number N00164-01-Q-0268 applies and is issued as a request for quotation (RFQ). This will be a sole-source procurement to Exide Corporation d/b/a Exide Technologies, Lombard, IL. Exide is currently involved in re-engineering the Valve Regulated Lead-Acid (VRLA) Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) technology for the entire U.S. submarine fleet. The duplication of effort and delays associated with utilizing another contractor make that approach unfeasible. The proposed contract is NOT set-aside for small business concerns. This solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 97-27 as well as DCN 20001213. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 541330 and the business size standard is $20M (annual revenues). This requirement is as follows: CLIN 0001 1 Lot, Engineering Services, in accordance with statement of work which can be downloaded at www.crane.navy.mil. The period of performance will be from 2 August 2001 to 30 November 2001. Acceptance/inspection of services and data shall be at NSWC CRANE. All responsible sources may submit a quote that will be considered by the Agency. A Firm-Fixed Price Level of Effort purchase order will be awarded using Simplified Acquisition Procedures.
