Description

The scope of this project involves constructing approximately 6.5 miles of 4-strand fence and installing signage around the boundary of Fort Bowie National Historic Site. Fencing is to be installed utilizing government-furnished materials, including angle iron braces, steel T-bar posts, gates, smooth and barbed wires, and prefabricated cattleguards. There are eight gates to construct, four of which are associated with cattleguards and one metal gate. The fence line location is remote with access limited to pack animals or helicopters. The contractor will be responsible for transportation of materials to the work site and some clearing or pruning of approximately 2-1/2 miles. The project is located at Fort Bowie National Historic Site, which is 13 miles south of Bowie Arizona, in Cochise County. The boundary is characterized by varied terrain with rock soil, rock outcrops, exposed bedrock, sandy washes, ravines, and steep slopes. The boundary has been previously surveyed and has been established with benchmarks, land corners, and triangulation points.
