- Description
- This requirement is being procured in accordance with FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items and an award will be made in accordance with FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service intends to issue a Request for Quotations (RFQ) for mechanical reduction of 358 acres of hazardous fuels by flailing on the Mississippi Sandhill Crane National Wildlife Refuge (NWR). The specifications include, but are not limited to the following requirements: Contractor will furnish all labor, materials, equipment, tools, transportation, supervision, and supplies and perform all work necessary for the reduction of 358 acres of hazardous fuels on refuge lands by flailing and leveling of trees, vines and brush within designated areas on the Mississippi Sandhill Crane NWR. No equipment or supplies will be furnished by the Government. The contract areas consist of stands with variable densities of trees, stems, and brush. All areas are located within the boundaries of the Mississippi Sandhill Crane NWR and Grand Bay National NWR, Jackson County, MS. The methods used for clearing shall be mechanical clearing using a flail type drum cutter with an overall cutting width of 87 inches and a cutting diameter of 20, mounted on a tracked vehicle. Wheeled machines are not acceptable. Refuge is closed to the public: BID ITEMS SHOWN TO BIDDERS BY REQUEST ONLY. Submit such requests to Tony Wilder, MS Sandhill Crane NWR, Fire Management Officer, 228-497-5780. This is a small business set-aside. Tentative issue date for RFQ is August 1, 2001. The Fish and Wildlife Service is presently using Electronic Commerce (EC) to issue RFQs and Purchase Orders. You must register in EC at web site http://ideasec.nbc.gov. If you have any questions pertaining to this web site, please call 703-390-6633. Prior to registering, each company must obtain a Dun and Bradstreet number. You may obtain this number free of charge at web site http://dnb.com. After registration, all contractors will be able to view posted solicitations and awards and submit quotes on line. This will be your only means of obtaining this solicitation/award. CAUTION: This solicitation will be issued electronically as will any amendments thereto. Thus, the Government is under no obligation and is in fact unable to maintain a bidders mailing list. It is therefore incumbent upon any interested parties to periodically access the above Internet address in order to obtain any amendments which may be issued. Failure to obtain any said amendments and to respond to them prior to the date and time set for receipt of quotes may render your offer nonresponsive and result in rejection of same. All contractor with access to the Internet and an e-mail address can receive electronic notifications of award. Telephone requests will not be accepted.*****
