Description
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Office of Space Science is releasing a DRAFT Announcement of Opportunity (AO) for community review and comment for science investigations with the Next Generation Space Telescope (NGST). Selections of proposals through the final AO, once released, are intended to provide one science instrument capable of achieving NGST imaging goals in the near infrared (a collaborative effort with the Canadian Space Agency), one Science Lead (U.S.) for a Mid Infrared Instrument (MIRI) which will be built jointly with the European Space Agency, four other team members (U.S.) for the Mid Infrared Science Team (MST), one NGST Facility Scientist (U.S.), one NGST Telescope Scientist (U.S.), and four Interdisciplinary Scientists. The primary science goal of the NGST mission is to advance the understanding of the formation of the first stars and galaxies. Participation is open to all categories of organizations, foreign and domestic, including industry, educational institutions, nonprofit organizations, NASA centers, and other Government agencies. NASA welcomes critical review and comment of this DRAFT AO, which will be available from July 31, 2001, through August 13, 2001, via the World Wide Web site: http://spacescience.nasa.gov/ .
