Description
The Federal Bureau of Prisons,intends to award a contract for nonpersonal services contract to a qualified individual or company to perform Practical Health Technician services at the Federal Correctional Institution, Ashkland, Kentucky. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 1. Providing evidence of active licensure from a State Board of Nursing with the ability to perform all skilled competencies required of the Nursing Process initially and prior to the expiration of the current license on file. 2. Maintain and provide evidence of certification of current certification of Basic Cardiac Life Support initially and prior to the expiration of the current certification on file. 3. Providing evidence of a current Malpractice Insurance Policy coverage initially and prior to any lapse in policy coverage. 4. Assisting in the coordination and provision of patient care within the Nurse Practice Act in the State of Licensure by performing patient assessment, plan and implementation of care. 5. Assisting with the coordination/scheduling and working closely with the clinicians in the planning and implementation of patient care to include but not limited to: vital signs, weight, medication and health history, assessments, ordered treatments, medication and IV therapy administration, teaching, documentation and instructions for follow-up care and Intake Screenings. 6. Assisting the Infectious Disease coordinator with communicable disease case finding and surveillance; interviewing cases and referring to the State Health Department and physician staff for treatment. Monitor and maintain the Immunization Program to include but not limited to: Tetanus, Influenza, Pneumacoccal and Hepatitis B Vaccination Program for both staff and inmates. 7. Assisting the Health Services Administrator (HSA) in the maintenance of equipment and supplies, and notifying HSA or the designee when supplies are needed. 8. Provide in-service training to the clinical staff as requested. 9. Assisting the staff with laboratory specimen collection, request form completion and preparation for shipping, organization of patient flow, completion of records. 10. Assist in maintaining the Occupational Health mission at this Institution. 11. Maintain departmental performance competency through annual completion of checklists to include but not limited to: Equipment operation, Pharmacy/Medication Administration, Laboratory Operation. 12. Provide evidence of previous experience in a Correctional HealthCare setting. The schedule will normally consist of five sessions per week, a session defined as six hours, Monday through Friday, 3:00 pm -- 9:30 pm, including 30 minutes for lunch,and excluding Federal holidays, not to exceed 30 hours per week. But, are subject to change based upon the needs of the Institution. Sessions not to exceed 247 sessions in one year. These services may be provided on an as needed basis, the contractor subject to a call for service from FCI, Ashland, Kentucky. This is non-personal services contract and not a personnnel appointment. The solicitation is 100% set aside for small business. Contract period will include a base year and one (1) option year, not to exceed 12 months each. Request for solicitation packages may be mailed to P.O.
