- Description
- The National Cancer Institute (NCI) intends to negotiate with the following Screening Centers of the Prostate, Lung, Colorectal and Ovarian (PLCO) Cancer Screening Trial for a one year extension of the Lung Screening Study (LSS). The PLCO Screening Centers are as follows: Georgetown University/N01-CN-25522, Henry Ford Hospital/N01-CN-25512, University of Minnesota/N01-CN-25513, Washington University/N01-CN-25516, Marshfield Medical Research and Education Foundation/N01-CN-25518, University of Alabama/N01-CN-75022. The LSS is a special study within the PLCO Cancer Screening Trial to investigate lung cancer detection rates for single view CXR and SCT in a population at high risk for development of the disease. Six competitively selected PLCO sites have recruited 3373 individuals into LSS. This solicitation is to add an annual screen for these 3373 participants at these six sites and to extend the study coordination for one year. For the coordination of the LSS extension, NCI intends to negotiate with Westat, Inc./N01-CN-25476. Study coordination includes: meeting with the NCI personnel to review progress and resolve problems; monitor progress and protocol adherence at screening centers and prepare monthly status reports; coordinate conference calls and provide minutes; maintain and update study-specific information and LSS Manual of Operations and Procedures (MOOP). Authority: 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), as set forth in FAR 6.302-1. Numbered Note 22: the proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302 Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within forty-five days (thirty days if award is issued under an existing basic ordering agreement) after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
