- Description
- The USDA, Agricultural Research Service (ARS), intends to negotiate solely with Amersham Pharmacia Biotech in Piscataway, New Jersey to furnish, deliver and install a Typhoon 9200 and PC Workstation and accessories at the USDA, ARS, NAA, National Center for Cool and Cold Water Aquaculture (NCCCWA) located in Leetown, West Virginia. The Typhoon 9200 system is a single imaging system capable of detecting and analyzing phosphoimages (using storage phosphor screens), chemiluminescence, and direct fluorescence (fluorescent DNA and protein gels, chemifluorescent and chemiluminescent DNA, RNA, and protein blots). The instrument must include all necessary windows software for image scanning and analysis. The system and software must meet the Section 508 Accessibility Compliance Clause. All Electronic and Information Technology (EIT) procured through this contract must meet the applicable accessibility standards at 36 CFR 1194. The system shall : 1)Be capable of scanning storage phosphor screens, fluorescent DNA and protein gels, chemifluorescent and chemiluminescent DNA, RNA, and protein blots, all with one instrument. 2) Contain two internal lasers (one at 633nm for scanning storage phosphor screens and the other at 532nm for scanning green-excited fluorescence and chemifluorescent samples). 3)Include six fluorescence emission filters and 2 beam splitters that are automatically selected by the protocol. 4) Using four fluorescent dyes to scan one sample and analyze it using the system software. 5) Include two objectives to permit optimal scanning of different thicknesses of samples, i.e. glass plates, microtiter plates, petri dishes, membranes and gels. 6) Include storage phosphor screens for phosphoimaging which must be sensitive to beta and gamma irradiation, X rays, and UV light, yet allowing exposure and scanning to be done outside of a darkroom. 7) A linear dynamic range of 5 orders of magnitude permits simultaneous quantitation of strong and weak signals and allows for wider latitude in exposure times. 8) The instrument must have the capability of scanning 25, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000 micron resolution, allowing for scanning at better than 8 line pairs per nm. Storage phosphor screen sizes must be available in 35 cm x 43 cm dimensions. 9) Storage phosphor screens must be available in a large format (35 cm x 43 cm) and are excellent for exposing two 22 cm x 22 cm membranes simultaneously. 10) Use simultaneous excitation with green and red sources to increase throughput. Spatial resolution for green-excited fluorescence and red excited fluorescence must be at least 5 line pairs per mm. 11) Capable of detecting all of the following dyes or labels: Cy2, Cy3, Cy5,fluorescein, CDP-Star, Ethidium Bromide, Vistra Green, SYBR Gold, SYTO 61, Picogreen, RiboGreen, SYPRO Orange, SYPRO Red, SYPRO Ruby, NanoOrange, FITC, Alexa Fluor 488, BODIPY 493, Rhodamine 123, R6G, TET, JOE, HEX, BODIPY 530, Alexa 532, R Phycoerythrin, TRITC, TAMRA, Texas Red, ROX, and BODIPY 630. 12) PC WORKSTATION: Computer: Dell Pentium III (or equal) 600 MHZ with 512K Cache, 128 MB 100 MHZ SDRAM 10GB or larger I ATA/EIDE Hard drive, 40X variable speed or faster EIDE DC-Rom Integrated 8 MB of AGP video; Integrated 3 COM 10/100 Network; Integrated sound; factory installed Microsoft window NT 4.0 and Office 2000 and a Sony Trinitron (or equal) 17-inch color monitor. The system must be capable of: 1) adding a maximum of 5 additional beam splitters at one time; 2) scanning and analyzing up to four fluorescent dyes simultaneously; 3) adding up to 13 additional substitute filters at one time; and 4) upgrading in the field. WARRANTY- The Contractor shall provide a one-year parts and labor warranty with this equipment and a software warranty. A copy of the warranties shall be provided with the offer. TRAINING -- The Contractor shall provide 2-4 hours on-site training to four (4) people and include all pertinent training materials. Training shall be coordinated with the COR (to be named at time of award), and completed within two (2) week's after delivery. MANUALS-The Contractor shall provide one (1) copy of the, users, software, and maintenance manuals for each component. The Contractor shall submit the manuals at time of delivery. INSTALLATION: Included in the price. Installation shall be coordinated with the COR and completed within two (2) weeks after delivery. DELIVERY: Delivery shall be F.O.B. Destination within Consignee's Premises, within four (4) weeks after receipt of the order to USDA, ARS, NAA, National Center for Cool & Cold Water Aquaculture (NCCCWA), 11876 Leetown Road, Leetown, WV 25430. Companies with the demonstrated capability and financial capacity to provide and service such equipment must include detailed technical information and other technical literature demonstrating the ability to meet these requirements. Responses shall also include itemized pricing that is sufficient to make a determination that competition is feasible. If no affirmative responses are received with 10 days of publication of this notice to determine whether a qualified source is more advantageous to the Government, an order will be placed with Amersham Pharmacia Biotech. The NAICS Code is 334516 with a size standard of 500 employees. This is not a request for proposal. No solicitation is available.=20
