ZIPCODE: 83415-3521 SUBJECT: EXPRESSION OF INTEREST IN R&D FOR MERCURY CLEANUP TECHNOLOGIES: POC: Dennis R. Cheney NOTICE TEXT: The Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory (INEEL) is soliciting responses from companies interested in jointly developing mercury cleanup technologies. The INEEL has intellectual property on mercury sorbent technologies that need development beyond the laboratory scale and wishes to engage industrial partners in the development and bringing of the technologies to market. The INEEL technologies are suitable for application to the in situ remediation of metallic mercury in soils, streams, lakes, and other environmentally challenging areas, as well as removal of metallic mercury from waste materials, solutions, and gas streams. The technology is also suitable for use in facility cleanup and can be used to reduce air concentrations of mercury in facilities to safe worker levels. This announcement is preliminary to an anticipated call for proposals that will be sent to interested respondents only. [The INEEL is one of the Nation's premier National Labs, Operated under DOE contract by Bechtel BWXT Idaho, LLC. Response to this announcement and eligibility to receive the later anticipated proposal instructions is satisfied by sending a letter of interest to Dennis Cheney, Bechtel, BWXT, P.O Box 1625, Idaho Falls, ID 83415-3805, or e-mail to dcy@inel.gov. The letter should include a statement of interest to participate in the development activity, some indication regarding the nature of contract acceptable (i.e. funded only, CRADA, in-kind, etc.), and a brief discussion regarding your ability to bring technologies to market. Disclosure and discussions regarding the technologies will take place upon satisfying the eligibility requirements.
